Norman Parr our President nominated for national award

The RYA Regional Committee was pleased to propose Norman Parr of Notts County Sailing Club , whom I'm sure many of you will have known for a number of years, for one of the new prestigious RYA Community Awards.

These awards aim to recognise the tireless, often voluntary work of individuals who have made a real impact and outstanding contribution at a local grass roots level.

We are delighted to report this nomination was successful and we offer Norman our congratulations.

Norman and other winners and their guests will be invited to an awards luncheon and ceremony at the RYA AGM.

Norman has been commodore, hon sec and head of the training section for more years than I can remember. He is now President of the Club. Before that as a teenager (more years ago than I like to count) I remember competing against Norman in Merlins.

He is now helping with Sailability, and is still very activly involved with running the club. I know he won't read this as he doesn't have internet access, but I hope next time you see him you will congratulate him. Being put forward let alone being in the National fainals is a great honour and shows the respect many have for norman's tireless energy.

Congratutulations Norman.
