A huge fleet of 54 Scorpion class dinghies arrived at Notts County Sailing Club for the Inland National Championships.

The racing was very close with Dave Woodhead & Jerry Hannabus the National champions having the upper hand on Saturday but Roger Wood led on Sunday. The weather was overcast with a light breeze for most of Saturday but improved for the last race, Sunday was also overcast, and windless till 1pm when the first race was held. Saturdays racing was sailed in heats, one the overall result counting.

Sunday is split into Gold & Silver fleets. Saturday saw Dave Woodhead and Jerry Hannabus from North Lincs win every race, Dave Wade and Olly Wells of Northampton was second with a first, second and forth, Barry & Linda Wolfenden of Chipstead were third. In forth and fith place were Roger & Claire Wood & Nigel Potter and Richard Mason from Notts County.

After a delay for wind, allowing one or two who had indulged in the dinner the night before to recover, a light breeze sprung up at 12.30pm, and two races were held back to back.
