Notts County held their Fireball dinghy open meeting part the Typhoon super series over the weekend with twenty nine boats taking part.

With the National & European champion sailing at their home club the competition attracted some excellent sailors from all over the country, including Parkstone and Shoreham on the south coast.

They were not however to prevail and the National champion Kevin Hope sailing with Mike Smith on Saturday and Rob Gardner on Sunday stamped his authority on the fleet winning four out of the five races, Andy Smith winning one, and getting two seconds and a third.

Racing was close with the top few never a great distance apart. Both days saw light to moderate winds with occasional planing and brilliant sunshine and warmth, the shifty south westerly breeze. The sailing was interesting and tactical, especially the beats, and picking the correct side and tacking on shifts was the only way to win.
