Superheat at Notts County
The summer solstice brought temperatures up to nearly 30 deg C at the North (Sth) zone's third inter-club event at Notts County S.C. Light and fluky winds meant tough racing for the 23 strong fleet.

After a postponed start the first race was held with separate starts for the main fleet and the novices. Bosworth Bullets were out in force in all fleets with the Leadbetter brothers Sam and Josh battling the searing heat in the 3.5's and Richard Simpson fighting to keeping them apart. 2003 newcomers to the 3.5 fleet Jamie Ingram (Bullets) and Matthew Brown (Rutland Rockets) both improved their performances and look set to make a real challenge at the next event. Lewis Robinson (Bullets) scored straight sets in the 4.5 fleet with Rebecca Jones from Carsington Force-XV a lap behind in second place. Daisy Brooks (Force-XV) was swapping places with Rebecca and just lost her position at the finish line in two of the races.

The 5.5 fleet is always the most fiercely contested and local hero Paddy Joyce (Outlaws) took home the trophy with newcomer to Team 15 Joseph Brightman (Rockets) close behind.

This is the only fleet where Bosworth do not dominate and there's plenty of room for any club to be in the prizes.

With a number of top performers in the 6.6 fleet at Weymouth, James Simpson (Bullets) had no real opposition and won easily.

Notts County's John Wildman commented on the high standard of racing awarded the trophies and certificates. Thanks were expressed to Gold sponsors Neilson, Gul and the Outlaws Gold sponsor Tushingham.
