John Rowell rang BBC TV in January to tell them we had the Fireball Champion at Notts County. There was inmmediate interest, but as Andy & Kevin were still in Australia and the boats were there too - and of course the lake was shut- it was decided to wait till the weather was better.

After a few months (well nearly six) a convienient date was sorted and so on May Bank Holiday weekend a TV Jounalist (ie camera man/ journalist/ sound engineer rolled into one person) arrived to film. It was a good day with plenty of activity (though not unusually busy for a Saturday). Peter from the BBC used to sail GP14s and Mirrors on the Bristol channel and was soon at work interviewing Andy Smith & Kevin Hope, followed by Stuart Poole on the water. The plan was he would film the first race and then finish, but he was so engrossed it was nearly 5pm before he left. Over one & a half hours video footage needs editing down to 2 1/2 mins, I don't envy him the task!
