Jonathan Lye from Notts County Sailing Club was first junior and third overall at the Morton Boats / Gill Midlands Area Enterprise final and the Notts County Championship.

The weather was set fair for the whole weekend and with the Midlands Area Enterprise final and the Notts County Championship at stake, the twenty five boats were all set for what was expected to be an interesting and challenging event for all competitors of all levels sponsored by local chandler Morton Boats of Lincoln and Douglas Gill International of Long Eaton. Unfortunately, the promised wind did not materialized and after several postponements, a short race was eventually completed on Saturday.

The shifting light and variable winds, saw the boats that got the best start pulling ahead. Frustratingly, this was the only race of the weekend meeting and very reluctantly the meeting was abandoned by midday Sunday with the meeting declared void for Double Chine Series.

The weather, however, made for an excellent barbeque and social gathering on Saturday evening.

As some compensation for the lack sailing, Al Fry from Hallamshire SC won a dinghy suit and buoyancy aid for a sail number lottery, and race winners on Saturday Ant Clay and James Holmes (Brookevale Sparkhill SC) each received a pair of Gill sunglasses.

We hope for better winds next year!

Results of Race: 1st Ant Clay & James Holmes (Brookvale Sprakenhill / Soul Sailor), 2nd Chris Fry & Al Fry (Hallamshire SC), 3rd & first Junior Jonathan & Karl Lye (Notts County SC)
