Richard Potter took part in his home clubs windsurfing open over the weekend in preparation for the Worlds in Poland in July. He didn't have it all his own way but managed to finish first in all but one race to win. Other local successes include Megan Hanson from Notts County who was second in the 3.5, and Owen Monaghan was third in the 3.5 beginners and Emily Hall third. Notts County Sailing Club hosted a highly successful Midlands Region sponsored by Boardwise Raceboard and Team 15 event sponsored by Tushingham. The Midlands series combines Team 15 which is aimed youngsters of all standards of proficiency with the Midlands race series at Team 15 centres, not only does this give the youngsters something to aim for but the better ones take part in racing with the adults. Team 15 is an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) initiative to get more children into windsurfing, and it is proving highly successful with thousands taking part in Team 15 events around the Country. The first two events took place at Carsington & Rutland in May, and over twenty five under fifteen's took part at Notts County with a further twenty sailors of all ages on the adult course.
