The Notts County Sailing Club Spring Regatta attracted record entries with well over eighty craft taking part in the three day event consisting of class races & Commodore's Cup (handicap) and socials.

Competitors came from as far away as Conwy, Hampshire & Essex.

White caps all over that was the site that greeted anyone as arriving on Saturday morning as the wind gusted force 7 (37mph on wind speed indicator), the odd tent strained at the guy ropes and one decided the lake looked inviting!

Saturday morning was a great time for the windsurfers (see photos) as many rigged their smallest sail. It was so windy the first race was postponed two hours then run on a reduced fleet, with only a few boats not capsizing, the four safety craft were kept very busy.

There was light winds for the next two days and a second class race took place on Sunday with the final one on Monday in slightly more wind, John Sears & Lindsay Ogden won the RS 400, William Twemlow & Oliver Hatton the 405, the scorpions were won by John & Joyce Henderson, the Menagerie by Paul & Sharon Plested in their RS200, Jonathan Lye the lasers, Bob & Debbie Tuckwood the enterprise, Tom Fosket & Tim Needham the Fireballs and Alistair Grey the Toppers.

The Commodore's Cup had two races back to back on Sunday and a race on Monday the large slow handicap fleet had forty boats on the line. Paul & Sharon Plested from Winsford Flash won in their RS200, followed by John & Karen Marshall & Tom & Nadina Jeffcoate third.

The Fast Handicap saw John Sears & Lindsay Ogden win with two firsts, second was all to play for with Jim & Peter Baldwin in another RS400, and Andy Fosket in a Fireball, Andy beat Jim. Meanwhile Alistair Grey was beaten to his second junior title by Nichola Ogden in a Laser Radial.
