The Scorpion dinghy class autumn championships attract a good turnout and this year saw forty seven boats taking part at Notts County Sailing Club, coming from all over the country, from Sidmouth in the South to Pennine in the north.

The fleet is large enough to need splitting up into four fights who race each other on the three races on Saturday without a discard. These results provide a gold & silver fleet for Sunday's races to decide the overall winners.

Saturday's very close racing saw a light to moderate south westerly breeze with a heavy rain shower during third race which swung wind round from a beat to a reach catching a number out. The wind allowed the occasional bust of planeing with a long beat which proved crucial. Dave Wade & Ollie Wells Northampton tied with, Tom Jeffcote & Andy Davis from Notts County after the first days racing, which was followed by a dinner for over sixty in the clubhouse.

Sunday was sunny with lighter breeze and two races were sailed with one discard. Tom Jeffcote & Andy Davis won the first race and Andy Smith & Rob Gardiner also from Notts County won the second race, Tom Jeffcote won overall due to discard.

Gold 1st Tom Jeffcote & Andy Davis (Notts County SC), 2nd Andy Smith & Rob Gardiner (Notts County SC), 3rd Dave Wade & Ollie Wells (Northampton SC)
