Speed Sails Midland Double Chine Series 2006 Notts County Sailing Club Enterprise Open July 1st

A great national day of sport, Murray at Wimbledon, Cricket, England in the World Cup and the 2006 NCSC Enterprise Open!

17 boats including 4 visitors arrived to a mirror glass lake but the wind arrived just in time for three closely contested races in light and shifty winds. The race officer did a fantastic job of ensuring three well set races all complete, as requested by some participants, before the Football kick off time of 4pm!

Race 1 saw Bob and Sophie Tuckwood, first around the windward mark, soon overhauled by visitors Paul Young and Alison Torrens, who were themselves overtaken by Nigel and Diana Pepperdine at the finish. Race 2 Nigel and Diana appeared to have got a perfect start but then the shifty and light winds enabled Andy and Kathy McKee to gain the lead followed by the home teams of the Tuckwoods and Kilburns. Race 3 The wind decided to come from all directions with every leg being a beat at one stage, Paul Young and Alison Torrens were first to the windward mark followed by the tuckwoods again but after some close and sometimes frustrating wind shifts the Pepperdines Came through to win the race and event.
