The laser & single handed dinghy meeting on 2nd July 2006 at Notts County SC saw over 30 entries, with Lasers in both full and radial sizes being the largest fleet by far. Visitors from all over the Midlands arrived on the Sunday to find the sun making an occasional appearance till it burned through later on in the hot 30' C conditions, with a fickle and shifty light Northerly was clear the reading the windshifts was going to win the racing.

The Lasers had some close racing in the interesting course set by Nadina Lincoln the Race Officer. Paul Williamson won the first race followed by Ian Lees and Adrian Sandilands. After a general recall in the second race, Ian Lees from Dovestone stamped his authority on the fleet with two straight firsts in the next two races to win the meeting. Adrian Sandilands was second in both the following races giving him second overall, after which the fleet got a little mixed. Paul Wlliamson of Staunton Harold with a sixth and ninth so was first master and third overall and home club member Tim Cripps finishing forth and second master with an improving fifth & forth.

Meanwhile the single handers saw a young Laser Radial sailor Tim Lowe from Redesmere win with Paul Brown from Notts County second in his Finn.
