The Flying 15 open at Notts County Sailing Club saw a variety of conditions from light winds on Saturday to a moderate to strong breeze on Sunday.

Twenty flying Fifteen keelboats came to the open from the Tees, Burton, Broxbourne and Dovestone (near Oldham).

The three races on Saturday saw two wins for Notts County Sailors Richard Mason & John Allen, with Will Gardner and Niki Theokritoff also from Notts County taking the third race. Meanwhile leading overall was Dave McKee & Chris Hewkin from Dovestone, with three seconds.

A meal in the clubhouse meant there were a few bleary eyes on Sunday. Richard Mason won the first race by a good margin, with Dave McKee second and so it was all on the final race, Dave was second at the windward mark, and Richard about fifth, it was going to be tight, then Richard picked an opposite tack, and crossed ahead in second, whilst local sailors Pete Walters & Simon Hextall led and won the race, with Richard in position to win the meeting.

The two were neck and neck, then on the last lap just a short way from the line there was a loud bang as Richard & John's mast fell down, Dave Mckee went on to win the meeting.

Results: 1st Dave McKee & Chris Hawken (Dovestone SC)
2nd Peter & David Kitchen (Tees & Hartlepool YC)
3rd Pete Walters & Simon Hextall (Notts County SC)
4th Will Gardner & Niki Theokritoff (Notts County SC)
5th Richard Hope & Scott Smith (Mayvote SC)
