NOTTS COUNTY LASER SAILORS WIN TOP CLUB TROPHY AT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Six Notts county laser sailors arrived at Rutland Water S.C Saturday 9th June to be greeted by a flat calm. 7 hours later, with sun block in short supply, racing was called off for the day. The two wise sailors who had not parted with their entrance fee decided enough was enough and stayed at home on the Sunday.

The 4 remaining sailors, Richard, Nigel, Tim and Phil took to the water in a very moderate 4mph wind at 10am and against all the odds three races were completed back to back. Richard, despite his somewhat old boat disintegrating around him, sailed an amazing series culminating with a win in the final race.

Nigel had good results in two of the races giving him an excellent overall result. Tim and Phil soldiered on mid fleet. Richard achieved a fantastic overall position of 2nd (one place off winning a brand new boat). He was also 1st Apprentice Master. Nigel finished 8th overall.

These two results were also enough to win the Club Trophy for Notts County. The Laser Club Championships are open to all Laser sailors not featuring in the Laser top 30 ladder. Sailors compete from all over the country resulting in a very high standard.

For Notts County Laser sailors to come away with such high positions is a brilliant achievement.
