In May this year we held a collection and surprise party for Len Duckering's 80th Birthday. (Len has been sailing Enterprises at the club as long as I can remember and still races at the club - long may he continue to do so - Ed)

A significant sum was raised and we presented Len with a voucher for a theatre trip to London. Here Len thanks everyone at the club for their generosity.

I have had many memorable moments at Notts. County, but none prepared me for the entrance to the club room on May 11th. In retrospect there were clues, but Muggins thought that it was to be a new members' introduction evening. What an evening! My sincere thanks to all who made it possible, plus a devious wife. Len.

And of the trip itself………

The sun was shining and after a pleasant journey we arrived in London, looking forward immensely to the special birthday treat. After a light lunch at the Natural History Museum open air restaurant, the Science Museum was visited (Len) and Harrods (Marion). A quick change and then the much anticipated visit to the Haymarket Theatre to see The Last Confession, followed by dinner. Walking thankfully past the long queue for tickets, we went to our excellent seats in the stalls. The play was brilliant, even more enjoyable after a glass of champagne during the interval. We had dinner at Brummers, a restaurant next to the theatre.

It was most enjoyable, the end to a perfect day, and all thanks to our friends at Notts. County Sailing Club.
