Tuesday Night Racing midwinter fuddle

Tuesday night 18th Dec (a week to Christmas) saw a very happy band of folk enjoying the cheery family atmosphere of Tuesday night racing, recreated for a special 'first of its kind' 'winter fuddle'. Thanks must go to Julie Coghill and Karen Ferrar for making it happen. Organised in the best traditions of all fuddles, the array of food brought along by folk was magnificent. A great range of healthy savouries led on to a not at all healthy range of sweeter foods. As ever, the quality street tin was there with Karen's homemade anzac biscuits, and Tom scored at least a 9 out of 10 with his exceptional chocolate cake.

As is only fitting for a series aimed at Novices and Juniors, the best pudding by a mile was Jenny Jones' chocolate sleigh, filled with homemade fudge parcels. You should have seen it!!

On the entertainment front the party simply went well by itself. We couldn't resist throwing is a few activities, and the two rounds of stand-up bingo were both won by the 'under 21' team. Andrew could clearly make it as a bingo caller if he wanted to! The over 21 team tried to pretend it didn't really matter but a discerning eye could tell it hurt!!

The double 'bop-it' challenge was not quite as planned, being tricky to do with a single 'bob-it' (bit of a debate in the Hall household as to which member of the family should take the blame here!), but it proved to be a very entertaining test of people's reaction times nonetheless. The evening was even graced with a flag-officer speech and a round of happy birthday for Simon, Rachel and Glyn.

Overall the verdict seems to be that it was a great success and did what Tuesday nights seem to do well….creating the sort of cheery 'open to all' family atmosphere that helps make our sailing club special. Same time next year then?
