Twemlow and her Partner Jean Furness from Rugby have been selected as members
of the RYA National Youth Squad for the 29er class. This success gives access to Coaching from Steve Irish (who is also the Olympic 470 coach) over the coming months. The next major event is the Europeans at Medemblik but before that there is the small matter of the GCSE exams ! | |
Notts County Junior Sailors' Success at Topper Nationals The Topper class held its Inland Championships (full, 5.3 sq m, rigs) and its 4.2 sq.m National Championships over the weekend of 3rd and 4th May at Grafham Water. The weather held good for two excellent days sailing with 3 races held on the Saturday in sunny F3 conditions and two more completed on the Sunday in similar conditions, the final race being abandoned as the wind died away and the heat built up in the afternoon. Two NCSC juniors took part with great success: Anastasia Logan claimed 3rd in the Regatta fleet with a consistent set of results in the 9 races completed by this fleet. In the Sailing Solutions 4.2 Nationals Lawrence Logan came a very creditable 2nd in a hard fought contest with 2 wins and a second. A fifth or better in his worst counting race would have given him the championship! 4.2 Topper Nationals results (top 5 shown, 21 entries): 2nd 226 Lawrence LOGAN Notts County Sailing Club Regatta Fleet (Top 5 shown, 21 competitors) 3 206 Anastasia LOGAN Notts County Sailing Club |

| Our treasurer Paul Brown won a special trophy at the Finn Worlds in Holland earlier this year, he was racing in the silver fleet, and after passing someone in the water realised he was in trouble and there was no safety nearby, so he gave up his race and rescued the sailor, who turned out to be the president of the host club. Here is Paul with his trophy (at his 60th Party) | ![]() |
