The final of the East Midlands Honda RYA Rib competition came to Notts County this year on the last day of May, with competitors from all over the region. Girton were victorious with two youngsters being sent to the finals in Southampton in September. Notts County members who have only had a few weeks practise under the watchful eye of Ian Pilkington and team saw Carmern H come second in the 8-12 age group and Rebecca Ogden was third in the 13-16 age group.

Each competitor has two runs in the boats provided by Ribcraft, with Honda engines, all brought on an Indespention trailer. The timing car and towing vehicle is provided by Honda. Keith Ellison brings the circus to town and helps set the course which consists of a slalomwith a right angle to test speed control, then a stop at a mark with a ring which has t be lifted and placed back on the bouy, followed by a reverse around a mark and back accross the finish line in the fastest time possible.. and the engine cuts out if you go into reverse and the revs are to high, most adult instructors would find it a challenge of control.

The standard seems to increase each year, and testimont to this is that the landing stage wasn't bumped once when the competitors brought the boats in. Below is a link to some photos and also a you tube video.
