One of the top windsurfing coaches - Jim Collis - in the country came to Notts County Sailing Club on bank holiday to celebrate the start of National Windsurfing week with a coaching session for club members and a few visitors.

The day started calm and windless - not ideal for learning more about windsurfing, however the sun soon came out, and a cooling breeze kicked in by midday. Jim explained some basic theory, but as soon the wind came it was out onto the water to put theory into practise.

After an hour of using head, arms and legs it was time for lunch. Then straight into improving tacking with some fancy footwork on shore, and the funky monkey! A short piece on gybing was followed by talks on fins and rigging.

Everyone went home having learnt something, with a broad smile and many a red faces from the sun.

Thanks for a great day Jim.
