May Bank holiday saw the traditional spring regatta at Notts County Sailing Club, there was no shortage of wind, providing challenging conditions for those that made it onto the water.

Over seventy boats and boards entered the racing, with visitors from Draycott, Banbury, Wanlip, Sutton in Ashfield, Northampton and Yeadon. The weather didn't dampen the socials which started on Friday night with a BBQ, live jazz music from Sound Waves followed by a Winter Wilson sing along, which by all acounts went on into the early hours.

Saturday & Sunday started with a novelty and novice race which saw a windsurfing tandem enter, along with three up in a wayfarer. The Novice race saw a Vago and Julie Coghil complete the two races. This was followed by the Commodore's Cup, handicap racing in fast and slow heats, junior race & windsurfers. Over lunch was a Junior race and class races in the afternoon.

Saturday evening was Rock & Roll night, as Mike Goldby's team cooked up supper for the 150 hungery sailors & windsurfers. Sunday saw a disco and Pauline's famous curry.

Monday saw wind speeds of over 30mph, with maximum gusts of 48 mph, racing was therefore cancelled, however the windsurfers enjoyed themselves with Dean Hutchinson setting a new speed ladder record (31.2 knots)

The Commodore's Cup saw Richard Mason & Simon Hextell dominate the fast fleet in their Fireball, the slow handicap saw Tim Cripps win in a laser radial from Tom McEvoy also in a Laser, there was some good racing in the large laser fleet, Russ Clay was third. The Junior racing was dominated by Andrew Kilburn in his Optimist, winning all the races with Lawrance Logan second.

Class Racing saw Paul Barnes & John Wells win the Scorpions, Dave & Julie Barker the Enterprise, Richard mason & Simon Hextell the Menagerie, with Will Gardner & Niki second and Ian Pilkington won the windsurfers.
