RYA National Club of Year finals
About a dozen members went to the dinghy show on Sat 7th March to see if we had won club of the year, we were in the top five so the flag officers, treasurer and publicity had a lunch on RYA and met the otherfour clubs vieing for the title.
The standard was very high, and the RYA I think genuinly had a difficult job, Steve asked Rob Carr afterwards the deciding factors, and it was work in the community essentially, well done to Fresham Pond who won, and comiserations to the rest of us, including local club Hollowell. Maybe next year.
We did meet a number of useful people, and there is no doubt the status helps us when we apply for grants etc. In fact the RYA High Performance manager has asked us to claim some coaching etc.
We have been presented with a flag and trophy which will be displyed in the clubhouse soon.
