About a dozen club members including juniors went to the Vovlvo showroom in Nottingham to recieve the Eco Challenge cheque on Tuesday 10th March 2009.

Notts County Sailing Club near Hoveringham won a grant to recycle at the club. The grant is only given to Volvo Champion Clubs who competed for the grant fund. Notts County received the £1,000 grant from Chris Franklin of Volvo Stratstone on Nutall Road this week.

Notts County Sailing Club who were recently nominated as one of the top five clubs of the year nationally have used the grant to implement a recycling policy, with new colour coded bins, signs and conversion behind the bar to allow recycling. Local company Wastecycle take the sorted waste away for recycling.

David Eberlin from Notts County Sailing Club said “ The juniors at the club not only produced a video to promote the scheme but have produced posters and are encouraging use of the bins. Anastasia Logan wrote most of the application. The money allows us to kick start recycling at the club and encourage members to think about the environment.”
