Lasers - club at Staunton open
LASER AWAY DAY
Eight Notts. County Lasers made the short trip to Staunton Harold Sailing Club on Sunday 11th October 2009, to compete in the final event of the 2009 Midlands Travellers’ Laser Open Meeting circuit.
The wind increased as the day went on, from light and fickle, during the first of three races, to strong and aggressive, in the last race. In a fleet of 46 Lasers, we ended the day with 3 boats in the top ten.
Martin Stott(6th) and Adrien Burnand(7th) were highest placed overall, Martin winning glassware for 1st Grandmaster(over 55).
Rebecca Ogden also took home glassware for 1st Junior and 1st Radial, a fine achievement at a club with a strong junior section.
A vote of thanks goes to our trolley tacticians, John Marshall and Rebecca’s mum, Lindsay.
Anyone who missed this trip but would be interested in similar Laser away days in the future please let me know. There are already a number of helms intending to go to the Laser Inlands, which are at Rutland Sailing Club on 7th and 8th of November 2009.
