Geoff Parker Memorial Trophy 2010
Notts County SC First of Year - link to photos - Video
The annual Notts County Sailing Club First of the Year Race took place on 1st January, the race is now known as the Geoff Parker memorial trophy after our past Commodore and President who died of cancer this year. As a result all entry money is going to Cancer Research over £150 was raised.
The day was cold, with ice in the safety boats and some ice on the water but sunny, but worst of all it was a flat calm, after a postponement the wind started teasing us, then settled down to a light north westerly. The cold and delays had put some off but still over twenty dinghies and winsdsurfers took part.
The windsurfers went off first and Gerry Ball led from start to finish winning by a good margin. The dinghies saw John Sears & Lindsay Ogden lead from start to finish, with N Rabbitts one of the few visitors who had braved the cold in a 505 close behind on the water, the commodore John Parr with Kim Parnham was third on the water but second on handicap with Ross Ryan and Kathryn Hincliff-Smith third, an RS 400 whitewash.
First lady and junior was Rebecca Ogden in her Laser Radial with Jack Clay second junior not far behind.
After thawing out the prizegiving took place in the clubhouse.
