Beat the Stig
The second Wednesday night racing of the year was abeat the stig competition run by Gerry Ball. The idea was an unknown sailor would set the stig's time (in this case Russ Towns on his Serenity), Gerry set a very tight gybing course, which meant turning skill was essential.
The three timers were kept very busy with something like 10 windsurfers going through the course over an hour, you could go as many times as you liked.
Ian Pilkinton won by 2 seconds from Cameron Coghill (ie if Cameron had gained a second a gybe he would have won) David Eberlin third, with Russ as the Stig next. All on different sail sizes and boards from large short boards, to Raceboards & Technos.
A fun and popular evening with lots of spills and the gusty wind meant chance played a part. Another one in two weeks, so next week may be a bit more traditional - depending on the wind.
A few photos below from a pleasant if chilly evening.
