Windsurfing Open 18th June 2011
It was time for the annual windsurfing open, and it was dominated by the Midland series visitors, however it was great to see a good contingent on the water and some great reaching courses set by John Parr the Race Officer. Sunshine, a light to moderate breeze and one rain shower saw some shifty conditions. The oldest sailor was Ron Clark who was just beaten by the second oldest sailor Russ Towns, where do these over 70s get thier energy from!
Dean Hutchinson won the 7.5 Raceboard on an old semi cambered sail with some great sailing, whilst our 9.5 sailors had some good results it was the visitors, in particular Jon White (leading the National series) who showed how it should be done.
After prizegiving there was a midsummers meal which over 40 attended, and Guy Sprekley had Happy Birdthday sung (its his half century on Monday!), it was also great to see the whol;e north family there after Jack managed to complete all the races, keep improving Jack (both on and off the water!)
