Report to follow, thanks to Nicola Willars for photos on this page.
A great and sunny Sunday greeted the 47 lasers for the laser open on the 8th July. With 10 to 15 mph of wind and a few clouds a good days sailing took place at Notts Country sailing club.
Race one started with a clean port end start and Richard Mason made the most of it finishing first to the top mark and never looking back. Jonathan Lye worked his way through the fleet to finish second and Luke Steaggles coming home third. With a NCSC 1 ,2 ,3 the first visitor Joe Saurrah came in forth. Andrew Kilburn came home in 17th to be first radial in the fleet.
Race 2 had the only recall of the day and after a second start 3 or 4 boats broke away with Kelsey Suggitt leading from time to time before Mason came through with Steggles getting second and Luke Hardy third.
The wind started to drop as race three got underway with Jonathan Swain heading home the fleet with Lye in second giving the home club an overall one two and three. Which shows the great club level sailing we have at NCSC.
1st Richard Mason NCSC
2nd Jonathan Lye NCSC
3rd Luke Steaggles NCSC
The first radial was Andrew Kilburn. First master R.Mason. First lady Kelsey Suggitt. First youth Peter Newbery. First grand Master Martin Scott.
Many thanks must go to fleet captain Mark Adams for running the event as well as a great race team and Morton boats Gill, Holt and Pinnal & Bax for sponsoring the event.
