instructor notes pdf (small) (note these are not official RYA ones - just ones used by instructors to jog memory

Fast Forward:
This is a new Teaching method for those who have mastered the basics on an RYA Level 1course. Level 1 remains unchanged at present.

At the end of the course it is intended you will be a competent windsurfer, i.e. able to handle a widestyle board in planing (if wind permits) or non planing conditions, the certificate & logbook will state which level you achieve.

Fast Forward is just the start of any windsurfer's learning curve, the Formula used in the scheme can be used to self coach yourself, but you will learn quicker with guidance at an RYA centre running clinics. These will in a few years replace Levels 4 and 5 and be focused on topics.

We can offer many of these but will not be able to issue certificates (i.e. you can learn the techniques), at present as there have not any advanced Fast Forward courses run yet for instructors. This will come probably next year. However we are still able to issue Level 4 certificates.

RYA Level 1
Fast Forward (planing or non planing)
Clinics (beach/waterstart, carve gybe, fast tack, jumping etc)
So how does it work?

The basis is a simple formula which is applicable to all forms of windsurfing including turning, this means it is simpler & quicker to learn using all the best characteristics of a modern sail and board. The result is you get hooked on this great sport and come back for more. The Formula is applicable from Level 1 through to the best windsurfers in the world!

The Formula links Vision, Power, Balance, Trim and Stance together. This becomes a constant reminder as you think why did that happen, which of these wasn't quite right. It also allows us as instructor/coaches to point out how to correct your windsurfing using a simple easy to understand language.

The club has invested in a new simulator and boards & rigs. The first course is fully booked however we shall run some introductions to fast forward on Wednesday nights, the first one on 5th May at 6pm, after which the bar will be open.

All the instructors are very excited about the potential of this teaching method, come and listen.
