Calling all junior sailors looking for next step …. the Junior Development Squad at Notts County is up and running.

This is aimed at Juniors (up to 16 year olds) who have ambitions to take their sailing up a gear and to start taking part in competitive events, or perhaps just improving their racing skills.

We run two sessions; one on a number of Tuesday evenings prior to the regular club Tuesday evening junior and novice race series, and one on a number of Saturday lunchtimes prior to the club's Saturday Stanier series.

The coaches will be RYA qualified, and headed up by Stuart Poole.
We plan to organise squad trips to events at other, local, clubs.
For the Toppers these might include day events, normally Saturdays, at clubs such as Ogston, Girton, Staunton Harold and Carsington.
Additionally, we are proposing to facilitate a group of sailors at the annual National Schools Summer Camp - which is at Carsington during the first week of the summer holidays.

Those interested should have: " Access to appropriately prepared craft and equipment " The ability to competently rig, sail and recover their craft " Basic awareness of ISAF rules of sailing

To register your interest please contact James Logan at logan.notts@btinternet.com or tel 01509 889193

MISSION
To develop focussed race training for junior sailors from NCSC across a number of classes to enable them to participate more fully at a regional and national level Update - 16th May 2008 It all got started on Tues 6th May and we have had around 10 sailors regularly turning up to take on the tips and help needed to take sailing to the next level, at the same time as having fun.

With the short time before having to be on the water for the Tues evening race Tim and Richard have been giving on-shore talks before the race, coaching from the RIB during, and a debrief afterwards.

The longer session on the Saturday with Alison and George will allow time on the water (assuming some wind blows, as it didn't on the first, gloriously hot, Saturday).

It would be great to have as many juniors as possible putting their skills into practice - and time on the water is what it is all about - and the Sunday 3rd race (start around 3pm) would be good as the congestion on the water is much less and with a few juniors signed up you should get a separate start.

Also, please take part as much as possible during the regatta w/e coming up - lots of prizes to go for.

Have fun! James

Notes of MEETING SUN 13TH APRIL 3.30 PM IN THE CLUBHOUSE

We've had a great response with 16 junior sailors registering an interest in this new programme. This kick off meeting will discuss what we are planning to do, and when we would like to do it. Please come along and help formulate the programme.
