| Calling
all Parents of Saturday Club Children. Starts 3rd May 2008 If you have not already contacted him, to help understand the numbers involved could you email Simon Parker via ncscinfo@btinternet.com. This very successful part of the club calendar is going to be coordinated by Simon Parker this year, and will as in 2007 rely completely on the active involvement of parents, and volunteers. A rota of assigned duties will be prepared, to include a Senior Instructor, Beach Master, minimum of 2 x Safety Driver, 2 x Safety Crew, and general parental support on the beach and in the club for each nominated day. This will make sure boats are rigged safely and then all of the equipment put away. Please indicate on your registration form, what duty you are qualified or prepared to undertaken and if practical, when you are/are not available, normal club rules about driving safety boats apply. Parents are asked to be present throughout the morning and active help is fully encouraged! It is intended that the club will run on all available Saturdays (unless there is an Open Event) from May to Mid July; and will start with boats rigged and ready at 10:00 am; sailing 10:00am - 11:00am, a refreshment break and then back on the water before packing away at 12:30 – 13:00 latest. If there are sufficient parents present then it is planned to have those children with little or no experience of sailing, receive individual training in a beginners group to learn the basics of sailing. This will also allow those that can already sail to have some time on their own, with more adventurous/fun activities to continue developing their skills. The two groups would then be brought back together for a group activity before closing. Lunch is usually available at the galley, and Saturday afternoon racing is on for those families wishing to take things a step further in a relaxed racing environment. There will be a meeting, at the club, in early April to discuss this years programme, and complete the rota – details to follow. The Objective: To promote sailing for enjoyment, and focus on young club members expectations. Boats: You will be encouraged to use your own boats and the club Oppies will be available. Older Junior Helpers If you or older juniors are looking for something to do on a Saturday morning and already have RYA level 3 or are already a competent sailor wanting to gain instructor qualifications in the future but need experience, then the perfect opportunity awaits you. If you think this is for you please email Simon Parker via ncscinfo@btinternet.com |
