John Tailby (with Chris Martin) was third in the Osprey Inlands.

Joe Scurrah  was 4th at Aero 7 fleet at the Inlands at Draycott on 10/11 Oct, and Hayden Moore was 4th in the Aero 6. congratulations to both.

Steve Thompson was 15th in the 2026 National speed rankings on windsurfers.

Duncan Monaghan was lying third much of the week at the under 23 iQfoil worlds,  winning a number of races including the semi finals in this Olympic class, he finished 4th, an excellent performance in. variety of conditions, along with lots of seaweed at the venue (making being consistent harder).

We also received a thank you letter from James Burton who has made great use of the John Merricks Topper last year: “I started sailing at Saturday Club at Notts County when I was about 8. I borrowed Blutak for a year and got really into sailing. Once I started racing on the Midlands topper circuit, my dad bought me an old red topper which I raced for 2 years but it kept springing leaks and I used to come in with litres of water inside my hull!

I was loaned the John Merrick’s Trust topper and used it to race the Midlands Topper circuit and the National series for two years. My best moment in the JMT topper was going to the World Championships ar  Medemblik in The Nederlands. I used the boat for the Topper National Squad training and we travelled all over the UK with the boat on the roof of our car. Next I plan on competing on the global stage either in an ILCA or a 29er. It is clear the use of the JMT topper was imperative to where I am today and gave me key experiences. I hope the next person enjoys the boat as much as I did and I would like to thank the club very much for lending me the boat.”

Duncan Monaghan was 17th at IQfoil World Championships, equal point with last years World Champion, a brilliant result in a very tough and competitive Olympic fleet. He had a good number of top 10 results.

Kevin hope and Andy Stewart were third at Fireball inlands and Yorkshire Dales SC.

John Harlow was 4th in K6 National at Weymouth

August

Joe Scurrah is Aero 6 National champion, the championships took place at Eastbourne

James Burton 59th out of a total of 178 entries at Topper Worlds in France he made the gold fleet in 5.3 class, well done.

Fireball Worlds Kevin Hope & Andy Stewart were 10th overall out of 84 in a highly competitive fleet John Tailby and Jake Willars were 43rd in the fireball they refurbished around half way up the international fleet. Congratulations all.

Draycote Fireball Spring Championships – Kevin Hope and Andy Stewart 2nd.

John Tailby from the club crewed Chris Martin to come second in Scorpion Silver Scorpion series & inland champs at Bristol Corinthian.

RYA National Youth Championships, Hayling: Sam Grayton from Notts County won the ILCA 7, and Kat Gunn was second by a point in the ILCA 4. Well done to both of you.

Duncan Monaghan achieved  his best result in the Iqfoil Mens at the princess Sofia Regatta in Spain, during (27th March to 4th April). We think this is the best international result, especially in such a competitive fleet of any club member. There were 120 International sailors in his fleet and Duncan won several races, and was constantly in the top 10, except for a few races, showing how competitive he was, he was leading most of the regatta and after the final race was just outside the medals in forth place. He beat several Olympic medalists and world champions in this highly competitive and prestigious regatta. Congratulations Duncan.

Kevin Hope and Andy Stewart were 3rd in the Chew Valley Fireball open in the last weekend in March in a competitive fleet.

Joe Scurrah won the Draycot round of the aero Open  in last weekend of March.

Congratulations Chloe and Katherine, 2nd and 3rd U17 ladies (and 7/8th o/a) out of 80 entrants at ILCA National event at Weymouth last weekend (21-22 March)
