Sailability General information

Welcome to Sailabilty at Notts County

Enabling Sailing at your pace adapted for you

Do you have problems with mobility or require other support (eg sight, hearing etc) Sailability may be for you.

Sailability is the RYA’s programme to open sailing to everyone.

At Notts County Sailing Club the Sailability section endeavour anyone who would benefit with additional support to enjoy the outdoors, feel the freedom on the water, learn new skills and develop confidence, through sailing. There are many case studies on the RYA site.

We are an RYA Para Pathway club, meaning we provide race coaching and opportunity for younger sailors more detail here.

All are welcome.

How is this achieved?

We have 303 Hansa dinghies which are especially designed to be very stable. They can be sailed by one or two people. The sailors remain seated centrally and they have a heavy keel which means that the boat should not capsize.

Not sure whether it is right for you?
We run taster sessions on the Tuesdays after May when it is warmer (see our calendar) in the afternoon and early evening. Numbers and capacity to provide this depend on volunteers so we are always looking for club members too help.

Any other boats?

The club has two cobles. These are larger traditionally rigged boats, particularly useful for groups of children and older people, but they are suitable for people of all ages to experience the pleasures of being on the water.
