William King - ex Member takes command of HMS Queen Elizabeth

Captain Will King OBE

Recently an ex member William King, son of our late and ex commodore Robert King (Commodore of NCSC 1995-7) and Jean King was promoted to be Captain of the Royal Navy’s Flag Ship HMS Queen Elizabeth, the new aircraft carrier.

Whilst at the club he sailed a Flying Fifteen (often with his father – Robert King), so his new command is quite a step up from that. He also had a Devon Yawl a couple of years ago and now sails a wooden International 18 at Bosham in Chichester Harbour.

He joined the navy after university in 1999, by 2013 he was commanding HMS Grimsby, Trumpeter and HMS Penzance.

Congratulations from all at the club.
