Windsurf Open 2025

Nearly twenty entered the Windsurf open with a strong contingent from Burton Sailing Club in the Techno class, and Notts County in the Raceboards. It was sunny, warm and a light wind.

The 7.5 fleet saw Dean hutchinson win every race except one, followed by Finley Mercer, who beat Dean in the final race, Barry Collins was third with Peter Hancock entering his first open in forth. Russ Towns unfortunately pulled his back so only managed a beat and a run.

In the Technos (the youth race class) nearly all the entries were from Burton the 7.8 saw Tian Zhang with three firsts, Ben Bolet beating him in two races to come second, Oscar Willis was third. This fleet was particularly competitive. The 6.8 fleet saw Clara Maloney win, with Alex Baucutt from Thrapston second. In the 5.8 fleet Roland Maloney won every race but the final one, Alex Weatherstoen was second and Belina Bolet third. The 5 fleet was won by Esme Hatsell, and Bertie Bolet won the 3.5 fleet.

Thanks to Natalia Orgonova who organised the junior and youth fleets and coaching some of the youngsters round.
