Work party 25th Feb 23

Thankyou to over 45 members arrived on Saturday morning to help get the club ready for the 2023 season. There was plenty to do and after a quick natter, a bacon sandwich and tea everyone went to the jobs they had volunteered to help on, guided by Martin Hart, the Commodore.

Some of the jobs that were completed included: the southern end of the lake saw some coppicing and the old timber being burnt. Meanwhile the trailer park was cleared, and the hub handrails painted. The balcony furniture was dismantled where it was rotten for disposal, whilst other benches were repaired.

A team finished off the decking. Underneath the new decking the windsurfers emptied the cage and disposed of sails, booms and masts that were no longer usable (or complete) and washed down all the boards and rehung the sails, after the hangers were removed for the new decking. The oppibats were cleaned down, and the oppi rack levelled, with the Oppies being cleaned. Work also went on in the cages. The pontoons were pressure washed.

The bar and emergency phone were refitted, and the poster by the gates fixed.

Meanwhile the bosun and team were pulling the new Committee boat out the water for fitting out over the next few weeks. Some powerboat instructors were taking club members through the Safety Duty Course.

Thanks to all who volunteered and helped some great work completed over the day. A few of those helping are photographed below.
