Carnarvon vist
In early July the club hosted a year group from Carnarvon school in Bingham, organised by Anne of RYA Sailability and the RYA OnBoard outreach banner. This involved about 18 club members, instructors, powerboat drivers and helpers volunteering to look after the morning and afternoon session of 30 children each. Apparently the children are still buzzing a week later so hopefully we will see some new faces at the club.
Whilst the headteacher (a club member) was in attendance Ashley Marriott another club member and teacher at the school has sent this:Â
On Tuesday 2nd July, the sound of happy and excited children was heard at NCSC, as the Y5 children from Bingham’s Carnarvon Primary School took part in a sailing day here at the club. They got to enjoy a range of activities out on the water, such as: sailing small dinghies (Oppies, Sailqubes and Topaz), sailing in the larger craft with instructors (Cobles and Stratos), finishing off with a relay race on sailboards. Needless to say, a lot of children ended up soaked, but the beaming smiles on their faces were a picture.
The school were absolutely delighted with just how brilliant the whole day turned out. The children said they’d had the best time ever. Praise indeed! In addition, the parents were also effusive about the day and this was the topic of conversation at teatime and across the online social groups in Year 5.
A huge thank you must go to all the members who gave up their time to make this day a most memorable one. From the instructors, to all the safety crews and shore-based helpers, everyone did the club proud. One special thank you must go to Anne Clarke, who liaised with both the school and our members and was instrumental in putting together such a successful and fun-filled day for everyone.
…. and the homemade cakes after for volunteers were good as well !
