Notts County Sailing Club is one of the most active sailing clubs in the Midlands and this page outlines the Opportunities at the club, training, racing, casual sailing, instructing and much more.

The page links you into other parts of the website where you can find out more. Please however talk to instructors, club officials or the person leading your group, or indeed email info@ncsc.org.uk and we can put you in touch with the relevant section or person.

Saturday Club

An introduction to sailing for youngsters to try sailing in an informal situation, parents are expected to help

Learn to Sail Youth

Youth courses are split into 4 stages, each at around 16 hours. A logbook is part of the course and certificates awarded on successful completion.
Both Dinghy and Windsurfing courses are available.

Learn to Sail Adults

Adult dinghy courses are split into 3 Levels, Level 1 and 2 provide the basis for Learning to sail. Level 3 for improving after some experience.
Windsurfing courses consist of a Start course for sailing in light winds then Intermediate after some experience.

Use of Club Boats

We have a limited number of club dinghies and boards that can be used by members (a donation is asked for to help with upkeep)

Youth Race Squad

Youth Race Squad is a great way to get into racing, ideally an RYA Start Race Course (see bookings above) gives you a heads start. The aim is to introduce and bring youngsters into racing. The club has junior starts.

Casual Sailing

Many club members join just to enjoy using the water, windsurfers, wing foiling and foiling boards in particular like high winds, whilst many others enjoy lighter winds and just enjoying dinghy sailing. The club also allows SUP (Stand up paddle boarding) for members.

Learn to Powerboat

Parents are encouraged to take the Club Safety Duty course on passing this allows you to drive the boats. we also run youth courses, and the RYA Powerboat 2 needed for instructing.

Become an instructor

Become an instructor, we have junior and adult pathways for becoming an instructor or a race coach. This is a satisfying way of giving something back to the club. you can see how you get on as an Assistant instructor.

After racing at the club you can go on class circuit, youngsters often sail Toppers. The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) our Governing body, has a pathway from local level right up to the Olympics.
