Pigmania hits Notts County
Another successful social headed up by Jon Willars with the family helping out.
The first annual pig race of NCSC took place on Friday 6th May, going was good to firm with a full turn out of over 40 spectators and jockeys.
Racing was started at 7:15 by surprise guest Porky the Pig (could it have been the social secretary ?), with the preliminary heats concluding before bangers and mash provided by clubhouse catering. Pig tossing was carried out in the training room under the supervision of Mr Adrian Jones, who was the only person who knew the rules.
Georgia and Amelie ran the questionably coloured Mocktail stand – most kids going home with blue tongues…!
After dinner was served, the remaining (incredibly serious) jockeys were left to fight it out, with the final including Tallulah and Delilah flying the Snutch flag, Caroline and Simon. The start line was nervous, with many concerned about who had got the slowest Pig (it was Simon…). Winning Pig went to Tallulah.
Many thanks to all that helped out, here’s looking forwards to 2026 and Tallulah defending her title.
Thanks to Kathryn Ryan for photos.and Jon for the report
