Sailability
Sailing at your pace adapted for you
If you have never tried sailing before, or you are a club member who is having problems with mobility.
Welcome
What is Sailabilty?
It is the RYA’s programme to open sailing to those with disabilities.
At Notts County Sailing Club the Sailability section endeavour to help those with disabilities enjoy the outdoors, feel the freedom on the water, learn new skills and develop confidence.
Who is it for?
- anyone who is living with a disability, whether physical mental or emotional
- a long-term health condition
- someone who is not feeling quite as mobile as they used to.
All are welcome.
How is this achieved?
We have two 303 Hansa dinghies which are especially designed to be very stable. They can be sailed by one or two people. The sailors remain seated centrally and they have a heavy keel which means that the boat should not capsize.

Not sure whether it is right for you?
We run taster sessions on the first Tuesday of the month in the early evenings, from May to September to introduce new sailors to these dinghies.

Any other boats?
The club has two cobles. These are larger traditionally rigged boats, particularly useful for groups of children and older people, but they are suitable for people of all ages to experience the pleasures of being on the water.
