BUSA Midland qualifiers

The BUSA qualifiers was held at Notts County SC over 4/5th Fen 2023. The 14 teams entered hoping to qualify for the National Championships.

Nottingham University, as usual, had an excellent team running the event, even persuading some Alumi to help.

The event has umpires and runs around 60 races, if posable a day. Saturday was light to moderate, with a pretty steady breeze, and the racing got under way promptly at 10am, with fleets going off every 3 minutes, and swapping off the pontoon by the clubhouse. As usual there was some very close races, and some not so close, plenty of calls to the Umpire, though many were green flagged there were some infringements.

Saturday saw 90 races completed, with each team racing 13 times. The  poor wind forecast for Sunday meant it was decided that there wouldn’t be any racing the following day. The two Cambridge teams led with UAE, Loughborough, Warwick and Nottingham following.

Next week is Snakebite the Nottingham Team racing event, always popular with a high entry.
